Fire Restriction Order
Due to current and forecasted weather conditions coupled with the extremely dry fuel conditions in Cache County, the State
Forester, in consultation with the Cache County sheriff, has determined that measures must be taken to prevent the ignition
of wildfires. Therefore, pursuant to Utah State Law, Section 65A-8-212, the following acts are prohibited in the areas
described below until rescinded by the Utah State Forester:
1. Use of firearms for target practicing purposes.
Area Description: All unincorporated private and all state lands within the following area (see attached map):
SMITHFIELD: All areas within Dry Canyon beginning at 1400 East Dry Canyon Rd and
continuing 1.1 miles east. This includes all of the canyon from the road to the tops of the ridge
lines bounding the canyon. (See Map)
HYDE PARK: All areas within Hyde Park Canyon beginning at 1100 East Canyon Road and
continuing 1.6 miles east. This includes all of the canyon from the road (north and south forks) to
the ridge lines bounding the canyon. (See Map)
This order will be in place for 14 days, after which it will be reviewed by the signatories and either be renewed or rescinded
depending on fire danger.
Any of the above acts is a violation of state law and is punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. These
restrictions will be enforced by county law enforcement.
Effective Date: 12:01 a.m., 20th day of August, 2020 until September 3rd, 2020.
